Dental patient management built around continuity of care

When a patient returns, the team needs a reliable starting point: contact information, recorded medical history and what happened at previous visits. Dentix connects these records with appointments, treatment history and permitted financial information so staff can prepare for the next visit.

Create a patient record the team can maintain

Patient details include personal information, telephone numbers, address and an optional emergency contact. The medical history area records allergies, chronic conditions, medications, previous surgeries and notes. Keeping these details current gives the treating dentist a clearer record to review with the patient.

Use a consistent registration process. Search for an existing patient before creating another record, confirm the telephone number and assign the appropriate branch. Ask the patient to review changed contact or medical details at later visits. The software stores what your team records; it does not independently verify the history.

Review the sequence of appointments and treatment

The patient record brings together appointment history, treatment sessions, prescriptions and dental chart information. A chronological view helps staff identify the previous visit and the work already recorded. Financial history and account balances are available only with the relevant invoice permissions.

For a returning patient with an active treatment plan, review the earlier session before scheduling the next one. This provides context for both reception and the clinician while allowing each user to work within the access granted to their role.

Understand what dental CRM means in this workflow

Clinics sometimes search for dental CRM when they need better patient follow-up and less fragmented information. In Dentix, that need is addressed through patient records, visit history, appointments and configured communication. These features help the team understand an existing patient relationship.

This workflow does not establish a sales pipeline, lead scoring or a campaign marketing platform. If your requirement includes those functions, ask for a separate demonstration and confirmation before making them part of your purchasing decision. WhatsApp also requires its own setup and consent process.

Test a returning patient handover

Create a sample patient, add a recorded medical-history detail, book a visit and record treatment. Return to the file as another authorized clinician and locate the previous session. Then sign in with a staff role that lacks financial access and verify the information available to that person.

  • Can the team find the correct patient using the information available at reception?
  • Are prior appointments and procedures easy to distinguish from planned work?
  • Who is responsible for correcting contact details and reviewing medical-history changes?
  • Does the configured branch access match the clinic’s actual working arrangement?

Practical questions

Is patient billing visible to every staff member?

No. Financial history and account information require relevant invoice permissions, in addition to the applicable branch access. Evaluate the clinic’s configured staff roles before everyday use.

Does Dentix provide a dental CRM?

Dentix supports patient relationship workflows through records, appointment and treatment history, and configured messaging. A lead-management or sales pipeline should not be assumed from those capabilities.
